The Video Evidence Technician performs technical and administrative law enforcement work in the control and disposition of collected body worn camera video footage evidence for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO). Work involves managing and maintaining custody of digital and video footage evidence, records, and storage of inventory. Work also involves managing and facilitating the issuance of body worn camera equipment to authorized users, redaction duties, release of video files to outside requestors, and the transfer of evidence for court, discovery or administrative processes while ensuring digital files comply with records release laws and policies.

- Responds to inquiries from d epartment personnel, courts, outside law enforcement agencies, or the general public regarding digital evidence and provides technical support.
- Manages and facilitates digital video evidence and records of the Body Worn Camera Program.
- Redacts digital video and audio files using video management software, release video/audio files to outside requestors, and ensure digital files comply with records release laws and policies.
- Provides misdemeanor discovery to the District Attorney’s office of digital files and digital video evidence.
- Instructs and assists deputies in the use of body worn cameras and uploading and storage of video evidence.
- Monitors and initiates evidence disposition upon review of court disposition orders and statute of limitations.
- Performs administrative duties and compiles data for monthly and annual reports of video evidence held, ensuring completion by specified deadlines and in accordance with established goals and objectives.
- Orders supplies and maintains inventory of body worn camera equipment and accessories, and performs other related work as required.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Preferred - 1-2 years of law enforcement or clerical-administrative experience
Education:GED, High School Diploma
