Senior Grant Project Specialist to identify funding opportunities, develop strategic grant initiatives, and support critical programs through expert grant management.
In this role, you will manage the entire grant lifecycle-researching and securing new funding sources, developing and submitting proposals, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You’ll collaborate with leadership, program managers, and external stakeholders to align grant funding with organizational priorities. Your ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines will be key as you oversee high-value grant initiatives, track project deliverables, and provide strategic insights on fund development.
Additionally, you will build strong relationships with grantors and funding agencies, mentor staff in best practices for grant writing and management, and maintain comprehensive documentation to ensure accountability. The starting salary range for this position is $81,414 to $97,696. *This is no t a remote position* ResponsibilitiesThe following statements are illustrative of the duties and responsibilities of the job. Essential Functions- Identifies and secures new revenue opportunities by researching, analyzing, and targeting grant funding sources.
- Develops and implements advanced grant strategies to maximize funding potential, including multi-agency collaboration, competitive grant positioning, and diversified funding portfolios.
- Engages with leadership and program managers to proactively identify funding needs, revenue opportunities, and strategic grant initiatives.
- Leads and coordinates complex, high-value grant applications, ensuring alignment with priorities and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with grantors, funding agencies, foundations, and external partners.
- Mentors and provides guidance, training, and professional development on grant research, writing, and management best practices.
- Oversees grant implementation, including tracking project deliverables, monitoring compliance, managing reporting requirements, and ensuring fiscal accountability.
- Analyzes grant outcomes and financial impacts; provides data-driven recommendations for future funding strategies and program sustainability.
- Develops and maintains grant database and reporting system; tracks funding opportunities, application progress, and grant performance metrics.
- Represents the County in stakeholder meetings, community forums, and collaborative funding initiatives, advocating for grant opportunities that align with County priorities.
- Works collaboratively and partners with staff, departments, and communities; develops, writes, and submits grant proposals, applications, and supporting documents.
- Coordinates with internal teams; gathers information, data, and statistics required for grant applications.
- Maintains a calendar of grant submissions and other deadlines; maintains contact with grant-making organizations; supplies additional supportive material.
- Develops and maintains relationships with grantors, foundations, and other funding sources.
- Tracks and reports for grant projects and programs, prepares grant project/program financial reports; maintains and reconciles grant project/program cost reports; assists grant project/program manager with financial information; attends to project/program manager's queries regarding project/program reports/budgets.
- Attends stakeholder, community, and other meetings or task force groups as required.
- Maintains grant-related documentation and records, including contracts, agreements, reporting requirements, and meeting notes, following all applicable laws and rules.
Nonessential Functions- When a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of Commissioners, all Larimer County employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker.
- Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent education, from an accredited college or university with a degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field required. Equivalency is based on one (1) year of professional experience equaling one year of college work.
- Five (5) years of experience in research or public administration, including experience in grant administration, grant management, grant coordination, obtaining funding for grants projects and programs, including at least two (2) years in a leadership or senior-level grant management role.
- Possess reliable transportation to be able to work at various locations as needed and required.
