    Duties Description

    The selected candidate will work under the direction of the Administrative Specialist 1, SG-18, in the Regional Business Office. Duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Process incoming mail by date stamping, sorting, and distributing it to the appropriate party.
    • Log and track incoming package deliveries, notify recipients, and arrange for timely distribution.
    • Process outgoing mail by packaging, applying postage, and ensuring pick-up or delivery to the Postal Service.
    • Prepare packages for shipment by securing items and properly labeling them.
    • Operate postage machine and maintain the balance of available postage.
    • Serve as the business office receptionist, greeting and directing in-person visitors, ensuring only permitted access.
    • Assist with maintaining office supply inventory (tracking and ordering).
    • Provide general office support tasks (filing, copying, scanning).
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the mailroom.
    • Assist staff with inquiries related to mail services and the availability of business office staff.
    • Assist with other duties as assigned.

    OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
    • Must have the physical ability to perform medium to heavy lifting.
    • Must have basic computer knowledge in MS Office applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams.

    BENEFITS:
    This position has the option to join the NYS Employee’s Retirement System and may be eligible for health insurance, dental and vision coverage as well as the opportunity for paid time off in the form of vacation, sick, personal and holiday leave after time and service requirements has been met.
