    Introduction

    Makes all purchases for parts used in the Fleet Department and performs a variety of tasks such as delivering parts for repair and performing inventory control functions.

    Anticipated starting salary may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this positio n is $28.69 p er hour.

    The City of Scottsdale Fleet department is committed to hiring and maintaining a high-performance team. In an effort to do so, we offer a competitive additional compensation program for those who have and maintain current and qualifying ASE and EVT Certifications as well as reimburse for passed qualifying ASE/EVT Certification testing. Employees can earn up to an additional $5,000 annually for certifications above and beyond what is required for the position. This program is based on budget availability each fiscal year.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Two years of similar experience in either the automotive or heavy truck industry.


    Licensing, Certifications, and Other Requirements
    • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
    • Must complete a valid Forklift Operator Training Program within 12 months of hire or promotion.
    • Preferred: Certification as either an Automotive Parts Specialist (P2) or Medium/Heavy Truck Parts Specialist (P1).
    • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.


    Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/service assignment.

    Essential Functions

    Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
    • Follows policies and procedures of the Fleet Department to order and purchase parts as authorized on all purchases.
    • Performs contract administration duties as assigned by Equipment Parts Supervisor.
    • Keeps legible, accurate, and detailed records utilizing a computerized inventory management system.
    • Research information, creates reports, charges out and distributes parts, tools, and shop supplies to Fleet Technicians and other customers.
    • Checks tools in and out and identifies serviceability of tools when returned.
    • Helps with inventory control functions such as cycle counts.
    • Operates a forklift, motor vehicle, one (1) ton flatbed truck, electric cart, and other tools and equipment.

    • Work in cramped or confined spaces.

    • Climb in and out the back of a stake bed truck, for loading and unloading.
    • Visual and manual dexterity to safely service and operate equipment for extended periods of time.
    • Sit and drive for extended periods of time.
    • Lift and move over 50 pounds.
    • Stands for intermittent extended periods of time during their shift.
    • Load and unload vehicles.
    • Secure items to assigned trucks.
    • Use winches, chains, chain binders and load straps to avoid a load shift.
    • Exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, temperature extremes, and unpleasant odors.
    • Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, telephone, calculator, copy and fax machines requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement.
    • Work evening, nights, and/or weekends, and/or a modified workweek.
    • Work solo at least one (1) day per week.
    • Travel to/from meetings and various locations.
