    Job Summary

    Pay: $19.75/Hour
    Schedule: 40 hours per week

    Job Length: Up to six months

    The City of Olathe is seeking Seasonal Traffic Maintenance Workers to perform a variety of labor and semi-skilled maintenance work including operation of equipment related to street striping, traffic sign, traffic signal and streetlight maintenance with routine maintenance responsibilities for assigned equipment. Work is performed under the supervision of the Traffic Control Supervisor. We are looking for those who will be team-oriented, can work well with others on a crew, capable of accomplishing a variety of general labor tasks, and can follow directions.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Operate various equipment and vehicles.
    • Utilize tools, work aids and equipment for work performed.
    • Communicate both orally and in writing.
    • Willingness to follow safety procedures, practices and regulations.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


    Must successfully pass pre-employment screenings which include:
    • Criminal Background Check
    • Review of Driving Record
    • Physical
    • Drug Screen

    Qualifications

    Experience:No experience is required.

    Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. The ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance is required.

    Licenses & Certifications:A valid driver's license and favorable driving record are required.

    Environmental or Physical Demands:

    Work is mainly performed outdoors with exposure to weather conditions which can include extreme heat, cold, rain and wind. May also be exposed to traffic noise, dust, fumes from vehicles and/or machinery. Moderate physical demands: strength sufficient to lift and move items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds; may be exposed to safety hazardous and dangerous tool and equipment. Bending, kneeling, reaching, and exposure to outdoor weather conditions, which can include extreme heat, cold, rain and wind; may also be exposed to traffic noise, dust, fumes from machinery or from vehicles depending on worksite. May need to work in low light conditions or with glare from headlights.
