Why you’ll love this position:The Office of Geospatial Information (OGI) is seeking to fill our GIS Manager position. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the Consolidated Agencies development team, software, and strategies. It requires someone who can help us communicate the vision of expanding the use of geospatial technologies across all 15 consolidated state agencies. You will support a dedicated group of GIS users within the State of Missouri and you will manage a team of 8 GIS Professionals who work together to support the GIS infrastructure, provide end user support for GIS software, and develop and maintain GIS applications and the underlying databases.
This position is within the Office of Administration Information Technology Services Division, Office of Geospatial Information (OGI).

- Create and manage project costs for GIS applications requested by agencies.
- Provide guidance on best GIS products and workflows for agencies to use.
- Determine guidelines and standards that reflect industry best practices for GIS projects.
- Troubleshoot GIS technology issues.
- Build and maintain relationships with outside entities including Federal, State, Local, and Private sectors.
- Coordinate GIS activities within state agencies and find common operations across different agencies.
- Manage team member work priorities for GIS projects.
- Coordinate with OGI team members and IT when updating software.
- Stay current on GIS workflows and technologies.
- Promote a positive and collaborative work culture.
- Provide workflows to efficiently leverage GIS technologies with Agency business practices.
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Environmental Science/Geology, or closely related field with strong GIS/IT emphasis.
- 6 to 10 years of experience in the GIS field. Preferred leadership or management experience during that time.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with ESRI ArcGIS platform, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise.
- Comprehensive knowledge of spatial data analysis, map design, data management.
- Working knowledge of geodatabases, database design.
- Skills in designing, overseeing, and managing projects.
- Ability to convey technical information and concepts to non-technical staff and stakeholders.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and/or projects at the same time.
- Ability to define a problem, analyze relevant information, and develop solutions and plans to solve the problem.
- Team-builder who has a history of cultivating a positive and professional work environment.
- Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with technical experts, clients, vendors, and staff.
- Ability to be self-motivated, exercise independent judgment and act with limited existing guidelines to follow.
- Ability to learn and adapt to changing GIS technologies and capabilities.
- Ability to cope with changing requests and timelines.
