Why you’ll love this position: The Compliance Section within the Office of Special Education supports the mission of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Vision of the Division of Learning Services by providing leadership in establishing standards which promote improved outcomes for students with disabilities as well as consistency in the procedures public agencies implement for meeting compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with other Office of Special Education (OSE) staff to plan, develop, and implement long-term strategies and operations to achieve goals set out in the Missouri State Performance Plan (SPP) for Special Education, Department Strategic Plan, and Commissioner’s Goals.
- Provide support to the Director in the development and submission of the State Performance Plan (SPP) and Annual Performance Report (APR) for Part B.
- Provide assistance to the Director in planning and implementing section staff meetings.
- Collaborate with the Director to development, review, revise, and evaluate the program cyclical monitoring systems for Part B of the IDEA (Tiered Federal) including, but not limited to, training, written procedures for monitoring desk reviews (self-assessment review/verification), and onsite reviews, onsite selection, final reports, corrective action plans (CAP) and follow-up for correction of non-compliance.
- Collaborate with the Director to develop, review, revise, and evaluate the program annual monitoring systems for Part B of the IDEA (discipline, disproportionality, coordinated early intervening services, and local determinations) including, but not limited to, training, written procedures for monitoring, and any onsite reviews, final reports, CAP and follow-up for correction of non-compliance.
- Manage the collection, analysis, and interpretation of section data, for programs responsible, as may be required to disseminate such information to various constituencies for the purpose of improving the provision of services and outcomes for students with disabilities in the state.
- Co-manage with the Director of Compliance the development of general section forms to assist the field in implementing the compliance requirements of Part B of IDEA, including maintaining communication about forms updates with student information system vendors that serve Missouri local education agencies.

Minimum Qualifications:• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in special education or equivalent area.
OR • Four or more years of teaching, coordination, supervision or administration of special education programs, or related experience that contributes directly to the understanding and effective implementation of the activities associated with this assignment.
