    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Business or Public Administration, plus five (5) years of administrative/management experience in airport commercial management, contract management, airline liaison management, airport concession management, or airport property management or coordination, plus two (2) years of supervisory experience.
    • Graduation with a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.

    The Airport Commercial Manager (Airline Affairs & Real Estate) is responsible for overseeing airline business relationships, terminal space allocations, lease negotiations, and real estate development at the airport. This role ensures the optimization of airport revenue, compliance with lease agreements, and fosters strong relationships with airline partners and tenants.

    This position will report to the Deputy Chief Officer-Commercial Development and will oversee aspects of Commercial Management related to airline affairs and airport real estate including the management of staff, the oversight of contract compliance and solicitations involving the development of airport real estate.

    Driving Requirement:
    This position requires a Valid Texas Class C Drivers License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

    ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL


    This position is categorized as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and in some cases when they are not scheduled.

    The top candidate will be subject to a minimum 10 year criminal background check and security threat assessment.

    Preferred Experience:
    • 5 Years of Experience in administering, drafting and negotiating contracts for commercial real estate/business development.
    • 5 Years of Experience in developing, drafting and administrating requests for revenue generating proposals and solicitations.
    • 5 Years of Experience in Finance or Contract Management at a Large or Medium HUB Airport
    • 2 years of supervisory or management experience
    • Experience, knowledge and understanding of budgeting,
    • FAA rules and regulations involving rates and charges and management of airport real estate, the administration and management of contracting documents and compliance with best airport business practices.
    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

    Manages and directs the preparation, negotiation, and administration of AUS real estate leases, concession agreements, and permits. Oversees airline contracts and airline affairs, and ensures compliance with airline agreements. Manages concession contracts, including advertising, food and beverage, retail, and rental car tenants, ensuring compliance and maximizing revenue opportunities. Conducts research and provides recommendations to support the commercial development of airport properties and concessions. Administers and ensures compliance with concession agreements, real estate property leases, and facility agreements, including renewals. Administers utility and public easement license agreements. Oversees the drafting of proposals, bids, leases, and permit documents, assigning tasks as necessary. Establishes evaluation criteria for proposals and bids, and recommends contract awardees to leadership. Administers land acquisitions and manages the airport land use development program. Develops and executes plans and budgets to support commercial and concession operations. Implements strategies to attract quality tenants and optimize revenue from airport properties, real estate, and concessions. Monitors and analyzes sales reports, financial performance, and revenue trends. Delivers presentations to City officials, airport tenants, AUS executive staff, and community groups regarding airport commercial concessions programs. Manages the airport concessions marketing program and represents AUS at industry meetings. Develops and implements procedures for the efficient preparation, distribution, storage, and retrieval of revenue-based contracts.

    City Government
