The duties of this position are performed in both an office and field environment, which include but are not limited to: planning/scheduling/monitoring field inspection operations, working with citizens to resolve complaints, monitoring data entries in Field Seeker software, lead field inspectors in education outreach, prioritizing and assisting with ground larviciding, assisting with calibration of spray trucks and equipment, conducting maintenance on equipment during the season and refurbishment in the offseason, operating a ULV spray truck as needed to control adult mosquitoes, and assisting with larval mosquito suppression using different types of small equipment. Leading/supervising/training assigned crew members to include hiring, completing performance evaluations, counseling, and disciplinary actions; supervising usage, care of equipment, and tools; maintaining and ordering materials and supplies; ensuring that all administrative paperwork is filled out and submitted in a timely manner; and performing other directly related duties consistent with the role and function of the classification. May be designated to report to work during hazardous weather or emergency conditions.
Minimum QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
Position requires a high school diploma (or GED) supplemented by five (5) years of supervisory level experience and/or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of power sprayers, ULV spray machines and resolving issues is preferred. The ability to safely operate small equipment including XUV Gator and backpack sprayer. Must have the ability to work with people to resolve service complaints. Must have the following certifications or the ability to obtain them within (6) months of employment: SC Pesticide Applicators License, Category 8 Public Health license, and Computer knowledge and experience required. Must have valid SC Driver's License and clean driving record.
