What you'll do: - Review Health Care Certification forms received from Children’s Division employees related to the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and prepare a written response to acknowledge information received, outline FMLA, and request clarification or additional documentation, if needed.
- Provide information relative to agency policies and procedures regarding leave status (with or without pay), Shareleave, long-term disability, etc. Establish deadlines for providing additional clarification, if needed, and/or monitor timeframes to follow-up regarding employee’s return to work, continued leave status, additional options, etc.
- Provide guidance, technical assistance, and policy interpretation regarding the Department of Social Services (DSS) Administrative Policies and federal FMLA guidelines as well as other Merit System policies regarding leave benefits and/or leave of absence issues.
- Assist with presentation of training courses (a significant portion of training is regarding FMLA) and represent Children’s Division at various human resource committees/meetings.
- Review and respond to requests for accommodations as outlined in the DSS Administrative Policies as well as the federal Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA). This includes a review of both the employee’s written request and accompanying medical information to ensure appropriate accommodations are provided and/or denied.
- Participate in interactive meetings with Children’s Division employees and applicable managements as it relates to employee’s accommodation request(s) and complete detailed summaries.
- Prepare summary information of employee accommodations and submit timely to the DSS Office of Civil Rights.
- Provide guidance, technical assistance and policy interpretation regarding DSS Administrative Policies and federal guidelines relative to work accommodations and ADAAA compliance.
- Attend training on FMLA and ADAAA to ensure actions are compliant with federal laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and trends.
- Assists with interview panels as requested and other special projects; and
- Assist with writing disciplinary letters.
All you need for success: Minimum Qualifications - Three or more years of experience as a Human Resources Assistant with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
OR - A High School Diploma or High School Equivalent and Four or more years of professional human resources/personnel administration experience with a primary focus in employee relations, recruitment and selections, employee grievance, position classification, and/or compensation.
OR - A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
(A combination of earned credit hours from an accredited college or university in the preferred fields such as Business, Public, or Personnel Administration; Industrial and Labor Relations; Psychology; Statistics and experience described may substitute for the stated qualifications. 30 credit hours are equivalent to 1 year of experience. Professional experience as described must be of a substantial period of time (over 50% of time)).
