    Our Mission Embark on a summer full of excitement with the City of Palo Alto! We're on a mission to bring joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories to our community through engaging recreation programs. Join us in sustaining a positive quality of life for all!

    As a Summer Camp Inclusion Aide, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of individuals with disabilities in our Summer Camp programs. You will serve as a floater across all camp groups, providing support where it is most needed each day based on the needs of each camp. You will work closely with Camp Coordinators and Instructors to provide individualized support, adapt activities, and foster an inclusive environment where all campers can participate fully.

    Work Location: You may be assigned to different locations based on daily camp needs, including:
    • Mitchell Park Community Center
    • Art Center
    • Children’s Theatre
    • Junior Museum & Zoo
    • Lucie Stern Community Center

    Limited Hourly Position: This is an unbenefited position limited to 415 hours per fiscal year, with work available up to 40 hours per week until the end of summer. (June- August)

    Essential Duties

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Under the direction of your supervisor, collaborate with camp counselors, supervisors, and families to ensure accommodations are met.
    • Assist participants with special needs in classroom and outdoor settings, including but not limited to art, cooking, science, sports & fitness, theater, and music.
    • Provide one-on-one or small group support to campers with disabilities.
    • Adapt activities to meet the needs of campers while promoting independence.
    • Foster social interactions between campers of all abilities.
    • Encourage a welcoming, inclusive camp environment.
    • Enforce on-site rules to ensure a safe environment.
    • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and enthusiasm throughout the camp experience.
    • May be assigned to various community centers and programs based on the needs of summer camp participants.


    Minimum Qualifications

    Desired Qualifications:
    • Able to adapt to different camp settings and camper needs.
    • Brings positivity, and a passion for inclusion.
    • Has prior experience supporting individuals with disabilities in educational, recreational, or camp settings.
    • Experienced with children in structured programs, such as camps, schools, or after-school programs
    • Patient and Empathetic
    • Reliable
    • Must provide a negative Tuberculosis test result
