Applicants must submit copies of all required certifications, including Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR-AED for the professional rescuer with the city application. Water Safety Instruction (WSI) is highly desirable but not required. JOB DUTIES: - Monitors pool activities and takes preventative actions to maintain the safety of the pool area by warning against unsafe practices
- Responds to water emergencies, rescues, and assists patrons in the water
- Provides basic first aid to swimmers as required
- Reports and completes incident and accident reports
- Instructs swimming lessons, completes and maintains swim lesson records, logs, and certificates
- Records attendance of all pre-registered participants
- Maintains the pool area, sweep, hose down deck and pool area, dispose of trash, dirt, leaves, and other debris
- Test pool for proper chemical and water balances and maintains equipment and supplies for pool
- Other job/department related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: Possess and maintain at the time of application process
Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR-AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications and be able to:
- Maintain effective and courteous working relationships with parents, campers, co-workers, and community members
- Express maturity in thought and demonstrate good judgment in performing duties
- Ability to follow supervision and suggestions of management for improvement of service;
- Willingness to cooperate with other employees and the public they serve
- Demonstrate good citizenship, honesty, loyalty, ethical behavior, and sobriety
THE SELECTION PROCESS begins with an application review for legibility and minimum qualifications. Only the applicants whose application materials clearly demonstrate the ability to and/or experience in performing the job tasks, as listed above, will be invited to interview with the Selection Panel. Candidates selected for a hiring interview will be contacted via email with their specific interview date, time, and location. Interviews for summer positions are tentatively scheduled for
April 14 th through April 18 th , 2025.
