Job Summary PLANNING: Performs advanced professional urban planning, serving as the design specialist and expert for the City Planning Division. Serves as a senior non-supervisory professional and technical person within a functional planning section for activities and operations involving urban design, land development, growth management, historic preservation, economic development, housing, and neighborhood involvement. Manages, coordinates, and participates in the preparation and production of plans, graphics, code amendments, and projects addressing the economic, social, and physical needs of the city. Projects include feasibility studies for City initiated projects, site design studies, and 3D model exhibits. Manages, coordinates, and participates in the production of templates, infographics, dashboards, brochures, posters, interactive media, maps and other data visualization and communication tools that engage internal and external stakeholders. Work is performed under the general supervision of the City Planning Division Manager or Chief Planner and performance is reviewed through conferences and results obtained .
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Architecture, or related field and six (6) years urban planning or related experience; or Bachelor’s Degree in any field and AICP certification and six (6) years urban planning or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required by time of hire . Master’s Degree in related field and four (4) years urban planning or related experience desired. Experience with CAD, GIS, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator or comparable design software preferred. AIA, ASLA, or AICP Certification preferred .

- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
