    Job Description

    The Agency Training Coordinator, under direction of the Infrastructure Training and Safety Institute (ITSI) Water Program Training Manager/Program Director, coordinates training schedules and deliveries, works with the point of contact at host agencies, approves travel of instructors, and markets/sells training and technical assistance. Recruits instructors and monitors performance. This position is responsible for courses delivered under the Water Program. This position may assist in the curriculum development process.

    This position reports to the Agency Training Manager.

    Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Two years of project management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


    Required Licenses/Certifications:
    • Texas Class "B" Water license or Texas Class "B" Wastewater license.
    • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related field.
    • Three years of Project Management experience.
    • Nine years or more of experience in the operation, maintenance, design, construction or regulation of water utility systems with at least six years or more of experience as an instructor in water utilities.
    • Eight years of varied and progressive experience, including supervisory experience. Experience in Water and Environmental industry is preferred.
    • Three Years of experience as an Instructor in Water Utilities courses.
    • Texas Class "A" Water license, with experience in both Surface Water and Groundwater.
    • Texas Class "A" Wastewater license.
    • Texas BPAT, CSI, or OSSF licensing.


    Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to move heavy objects and/or wear personal protective gear during instruction.
    • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions during instruction.
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

    • Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate logistics.
    • Ability to make a favorable impression and gain the respect of students and instructors.
    • Ability to be an effective project coordinator for water utility and environmental initiatives.
    • Knowledge of basic office and online presentation software and instructional programs.
    • Knowledge of principles and methods for teaching and instructing individuals and groups.
    • Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods.
    • Skilled in utilizing various learning and active listening strategies.
    • Ability to orally comprehend and express information and use inductive and deductive reasoning.
    • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

    Equipment:
    • Ability to operate standard office equipment: computer, keyboard, multifunctional printer, telephone.
    • Ability to operate presentation equipment: projectors, cameras and microphones.
    • PPE if needed.


    Notifications:

    • As part of the TEEX’s mission of “providing training, developing practical solutions, and saving lives”, this position could be required, if called upon, to deploy within the State of Texas as directed by this position’s Division Division/ HQ Department Head.
    • Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving a personal or TEEX vehicle and/or flying on commercial airlines.


    Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:

    Coordinate Training Schedules, Projects, and Materials for Water/Wastewater Program - 70%
    • Coordinate course and Instructor scheduling and logistics.
    • Develop and conduct special training events or materials as assigned by program supervisor.
    • Schedule training events with customers.
    • Coordinate technical assistance activities and special project work.
    • Participates in professional development in subject matter including OSHA training.
    • Develop course outlines for new or emerging technologies.


    Serve as an Observer or Backup Instructor (as needed) - 20%
    • Monitor or provide classroom and field instruction.
    • Travel to remote locations across the state to observe or provide classroom training as assigned by program supervisor (travel may require overnight stay).
    • Arrive before course instruction is scheduled to begin.
    • Ensure approved course curriculum is utilized.
    • Ensure course participants have achieved terminal course objectives.
    • May perform exercises or demonstration during field instruction.


    Supervise Program Staff and Evaluate Performance - 5%
    • Evaluate staff performance and set professional goals and objectives.
    • Coach and provide feedback timely.
    • Address personnel issues.
    • Ensure employees are afforded proper professional development opportunities.


    Coordinate Curriculum for Water and Environmental Topics - 5%
    • Liaise with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Operator Licensing Program for course approvals.
    • Serve as TEEX representative on the TCEQ Licensing Advisory Committee.
    • Coordinate with Curriculum Services on TCEQ course submissions until final approval letter is received by TCEQ.


    Additional Program/Division responsibilities:
    • Participate in professional development opportunities.
    • Involvement with Agency Initiatives (CoP’s, committees, etc.).
    • Maintain a safe working and teaching environment.
    • Positively interact with customers and others (students, staff, etc.)
    • Maintain and safeguard assigned divisional equipment and property.
    • Generate e-mails and reports as needed.
    • Maintain a clean and neat appearance.
    • Maintain orderly and clean workspace.
    • Demonstrate a positive attitude and work ethic.
    • Exhibit punctuality by arriving to work and scheduled events on time.
    • Comply with TAMU/TEEX policies and procedures.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
