    Job Summary



    Do you love being outside while seeing the different areas of the County while getting paid?

    The Facility Grounds Worker series offers a unique, hands-on opportunity to get to know all of Mohave County Parks.

    On any day of the week, you could be working anywhere inside of 4,000 acres of parks and recreational facilities located from the Colorado River to the Hualapai Mountains. While you work you can e njoy the fresh pine trees of Hualapai Mountain Park, the Joshua trees in Dolan Springs, or the amazing two miles of shoreline along the Colorado River.

    Responsibilities include providing on-going maintenance, repair, and janitorial services of County owned and leased buildings and grounds, as well as routine maintenance and repair services for plumbing, carpentry, electrical trades, and heavy equipment.





    Mohave County Public Works-Facility Division is looking to fill two positions from within the series below, as assigned within Mohave County, AZ.

    Facility Grounds Worker -> Starting Salary, $18.22 /hr.

    Facility Grounds Worker Senior -> Starting Salary, $20.09 /hr.

    Facility Grounds Worker Specialist -> Starting Salary, $22.15 /hr.

    Facility Grounds Worker Lead -> Starting Salary, $23.26 /hr.

    Work 5 eight-hour shifts (scheduled hours could vary depending on department seasonal event needs).

    Work Weekends and Holidays.

    Work on Parks Special Events and the Mohave County Fair.

    Available to be "On-Call" status.

    Work does require traveling throughout the county while operating and handling a motor vehicle in adverse traffic conditions, weather, terrain, and altitudes ranging anywhere from 541 feet to up approximately 8,500 feet.
    Work outdoors performing moderate to strenuous manual labor in varying weather conditions, including strong winds, extreme heat to extreme cold temperatures.
    Possible exposure to smoke and heat due to the performance of firefighting activities.
    Involves exposure to exhaust and chemical fumes, oil, grease, hazardous materials, and loud noises from equipment.
    The ability to frequently be able to lift 25lbs up to 150lbs or more while operating heavy equipment.
    This position requires an equal amount of time spent standing, walking, and sitting.
    Climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, bending, climbing ladders, confined spaces, tree trimming.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Performs same duties and responsibilities as those required of the Facility/Grounds Workers series or as assigned to Parks.
    • Performs those duties that are more difficult and responsible of the Facilities/Grounds Worker or as they apply to Parks area.
    • Provides routine maintenance and repair services under plumbing, carpentry, and electrical trades as well as heavy equipment operation required for grounds development and maintenance.
    • Assists in the preparation of performance evaluations; may recommend disciplinary actions; assists in approving vacations and time off; prepares work schedules and assignments; oversees the activities of assigned personnel; monitors reports and recordkeeping activities filed by assigned personnel for completeness, accuracy and adherence to policy and procedure guidelines; instructs personnel in departmental policies, procedures and techniques; and provides training in the safe operation and servicing of required equipment, tools and materials in assigned area.
    • Prepares complete, accurate reports, records, and logs.
    • Operates and utilizes various hand and power tools and equipment appropriate to assigned area.
    • Adheres to safety procedures in work areas and in performance of work assignments.
    • Cleans, maintains and services required equipment and tools used during performance of work assignments.
    • Maintains an adequate supply of materials, equipment and tools required to fulfill work assignments.


    Minimum Qualifications

    Required Minimum Education, Experience, and Training :

    • High School diploma /GED (General Education Degree).
    • Minimum three (3) years successful experience in the general maintenance/construction area with possible focus on a specialty area such as facility’s grounds keeping, and/or parks maintenance.
    • Completion of trade school and apprenticeship program in the building maintenance/construction trades.
    • OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.


    Facility Grounds Worker Senior: One -year with Facility Grounds Worker experience including. (To view the full Facility Grounds Worker Senior Job Description Click here )
    • High School diploma/GED (General Education Degree)
    • At least five (5) years successful increasingly responsible experience in the general maintenance/construction area and possibly with a focus on a specialty area such as facilities, locksmith, grounds keeping, or parks maintenance as a Facility/Grounds Worker.
    • Or when filled from outside, at least five (5) years increasingly responsible experience as a Facility/Grounds Worker or related field involving the maintaining, constructing, repairing, and modifying facilities and buildings with a focus on a specialty area such as Locksmith; Grounds keeping.
    • OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.


    Facility Grounds Worker Specialist: Two -years with Facility Grounds Worker Senior experience including. (To view the full Facility Grounds Worker Specialist Job Description Click here )
    • High School diploma/GED (General Education Degree).
    • Five (5) or more years progressively responsible experience in the general maintenance/construction area or related field involving the maintaining, constructing, repairing, and modifying facilities and buildings or progressively responsible experience as a Facility Grounds Worker.
    • OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.

    • High School Diploma/GED (General Education Degree).
    • Three (3) years successful experience in the performance of journey or advanced journey level duties and responsibilities associated with the area assigned or when filled from the outside, three (3) or more years’ experience in an assigned area performing applicable journey or advanced journey level work.
    • OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.


    SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENT
