About the Role:Stormwater Services (SWS) has an opportunity for an Administrative Specialist III. This
one-year special duty position will support the section through a wide range of administrative, technical/clerical, and customer service support functions. In this role you’ll have the opportunity to participate in projects by providing purchasing, document management, and meeting support as needed to keep projects on schedule. You’ll provide support for section management team and all staff meeting preparation, as well as agreements and web updates. There will be opportunities to take on more complex financial tasks, take the lead on small projects, and create new guidelines around the work. The skills and experience gained in this position can lead to a role in finance, contracts, or program management.
This position performs work remotely and onsite.

Enjoy training, comprehensive benefits , and growth opportunities.Job Duties- Support office management processes, procedures and methods for activities such as records management, document development, document management, reporting, invoice processing, inventory, and travel and training plans. Interpret and apply existing King County policies, procedures, and codes where relevant.
- Provide skilled support in preparation for public meetings including scheduling, coordination, communication, material preparation, and taking meeting minutes.
- Support efforts to ensure public-facing information, such as web pages, are updated. Perform web page editing and maintenance activities for the Section.
- Perform complex word processing tasks including mail merges, legal document production/preparation, maintenance and periodic updating of mailing lists and boilerplate documents, and detailed proofreading and editing.
- Provide support and assist the section manager and staff on tasks such as scheduling meetings and maintaining calendars, handling documents, tracking correspondence assignments, processing and organizing records and materials, and copying documents.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, SkillsQualifications You Bring: - At least three (3) years of general office experience providing administrative, technical, clerical, and customer service support functions in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work and make decisions in a team environment by being flexible and working professionally with all levels of staff.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing.
- Experience with King County purchasing and reconciling expense processes.

Supplemental InformationWorking Conditions:- Remote and Onsite Work Details: Employees in this role work remotely from a home location, with onsite reporting requirements typically 2 days per month. The frequency of onsite work is determined by business needs and may be adjusted accordingly. Onsite reporting locations may be at various King County worksites including the collaboration space at King Street Center (201 S. Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98104). This work arrangement promotes work-life-balance and reduces carbon footprint under the department’s vision of Green Where We Work.
- Remote Work Location Requirement: Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance to King County worksites to meet onsite reporting requirements.
- Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
- Union Representation: This position is represented by Teamsters Local 117 -Professional & Technical and Administrative Employees.
- Duration: This recruitment aims to fill a special duty assignment (SDA) position with an anticipated one-year duration.
