Department of Public Health (DPH), Data Science Services Section is recruiting for
Epidemiology and Statistical Supervisor* who play a pivotal role in shaping the department's research agenda and driving evidence-based decision-making. Epidemiology and Statistical Supervisors oversee a team of skilled statistical analysts and epidemiologists, providing mentorship and guidance in advanced statistical techniques, data interpretation, and the application of epidemiological principles.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and oversee epidemiologic investigations, including case reviews, data collection, and analysis to monitor disease trends and inform public health response efforts.
- Manage epidemiologic projects and initiatives, ensuring adherence to project timelines, resource allocation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to achieve program goals.
- Provide technical guidance to epidemiologists and public health staff (including interns/fellows) in conducting case investigations, outbreak response, and data interpretation.
- Develop and implement protocols for case investigation and surveillance, ensuring consistency in data reporting, quality assurance, and compliance with public health regulations.
- Communicate findings and recommendations through reports, presentations, and dashboards to inform leadership, stakeholders, and community partners on emerging health concerns.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.
Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation.

Minimum RequirementsEducation: A completed bachelor's degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, Public/Healthcare Administration, Behavioral/Social Science, or other relevant field of study from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education
-AND-Experience: Two (2) years of full-time professional-level experience with primary responsibility for analyzing, interpreting, conducting research studies and making recommendations to management in a combination of the following areas: analysis and interpretation of epidemiological or demographic data or quantitative data; statistical analyses; organizational analysis; or project management.
-AND-Lead/Supervisory Experience: One (1) year of lead or supervising work experience over a support services staff.
Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep proficiency in various statistical methodologies, geospatial analyses, epidemiological study designs, and analytical techniques to investigate and understand patterns, causes, and impacts of health-related events in populations. Additionally, this candidate should be proficient with project management skills in developing clear, measurable objectives, timelines, and resource allocation plans.
