    If your goal is to work as a Human Resources professional in a cohesive and collaborative team, we have the perfect opportunity for you! The Human Resource Unit of the King County Solid Waste Division (SWD) is inviting applications for a Human Resources (HR) Associate to join our team!

    The HR Associate will be a vital member of the Talent Acquisition Team and will support the recruiting processes, employee onboarding/offboarding, and several special HR projects. This is an exciting chance to make a significant, direct impact within the Solid Waste Division as the HR team innovates and implements changes to support our growing and rapidly evolving division. It is also a wonderful opportunity for individuals who wish to learn more and develop skills in the Human Resources field.

    About this Role:

    This role is an integral part of the HR Talent Acquisition Team helping support all recruitments across the division and bring the best people into SWD to achieve the division’s mission of providing an equitable and environmentally sound waste management system for the community we serve. This role will help support onboarding and offboarding and will be one of the very first representatives a candidate will meet, having a unique opportunity to leave a positive and lasting impression of SWD. The Talent Acquisition Team handles a large volume of complicated but rewarding full-service recruitments. The HR Associate role also helps with key projects such as planning and hosting division-wide new employee orientations, all-hands meetings, and career fairs.

    Job Duties

    What You Will De Doing:
    • Use PeopleSoft, NEOGOV, Word, Excel, and Teams to complete recruiting activities and projects; assist with the maintenance of personnel and human resources files and records, including Laserfiche administration.
    • Provide support with HR process creation and data tracking.
    • Provide recruiting support, including candidate outreach, scheduling, materials coordination, and recruitment events, and act as the designated backup for HR Analyst Recruiters.
    • Assist in new employee pre-employment processing and onboarding and offboarding support.
    • Assist with a variety of HR/recruiting special projects such as New Employee Orientations and career fairs.


    Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

    Qualifications You Bring:
    • Highly proficient in using various computer software such as but not limited to: Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
    • Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience providing customer service or administrative support to a business unit or department.
    • Experience working with confidential records and/or materials.
    • Experience working in data entry and basic data analysis experience.
    • Experience working with the public and/or diverse constituencies.
    • Experience providing administrative support for complex projects or programs.
    • Eye for details and ability to understand and follow complex process steps.

    It Would be Great if You Also Bring:
    • One (1) year of experience in the field of Human Resources.
    • SHRM or HRCI certified or AA/BS in Human Resources.
    • Experience with SharePoint.
    • Experience with or working knowledge of NEOGOV.
    • Experience supporting basic recruitment operations or candidate outreach.


    Supplemental Information

    Working Conditions:
    • Remote and Onsite Work Details: Employees in this role work remotely from a home location, with onsite reporting requirements typically up to 4 days a month. The frequency of onsite work is determined by business needs and may be adjusted accordingly. Onsite reporting locations may be at various King County worksites including the collaboration space at King Street Center (201 S. Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98104). This work arrangement promotes work-life balance and reduces carbon footprint under the department’s vision.
    • Remote Work Location Requirement: Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance of King County worksites to meet onsite reporting requirements.
    • Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position follows the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
    • Union Representation: This position is represented by Teamsters, Local 117.
