    Major Duties

    Under general supervision, the Painter prepares and paints various surfaces under the oversight of the lead painter.
    • Prepares and paints various surfaces under the supervision of the lead painter.
    • Brushes and sprays paint and works from ladders, scaffolding and rigging.
    • Installs drywall and does taping, mudding and sanding.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.


    Qualifications
    • Progressively responsible training and experience which demonstrates achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to that acquired through completion of a standard painter's apprenticeship program.
    • LICENSE: Candidate must possess and maintain a Valid California Driver's License.


    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Work requires general knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in painting and finishing.
    • Must possess the ability and specialized skills to prepare and paint various surfaces under the supervision of the lead painter; brush and spray paint; work from ladders, scaffolding and rigging; install drywall; taping, mudding and sanding.
    • Must be able to properly estimate the materials needed for an assignment, read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position and keep simple records.
    • Must be knowledgeable of Cal OSHA safety requirements.


    Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
    • The university offers excellent medical benefits.
    • Classification / grade: 6526 / Painter / 1
    • The anticipated HIRING RATE is $6151 per month. The salary range for this classification is: $5355 - $7801per month.
    • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; may require overtime.
    • TEMP: This is a temporary appointment; between May 1 and August 31, 2025.
