    The Position

    Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    This posting is for the Major Source Permitting Branch in the Bureau of Air Pollution Control located in Reno. The Permitting Branch is tasked with maintaining air quality in the growing State by implementing state and federal regulations and ensuring air emissions are not in violation of the Nevada Ambient Air Quality Standards. The duties of permitting include reviewing Title V permit applications, communicating with facilities to get additional information, calculating potential-to-emit emissions for air pollutants, conducting Prevention of Significant Deterioration applicability determinations, reviewing state and federal regulations, drafting Title V air quality operating permits, writing technical reviews, and peer reviewing. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.     In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Current Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) Special Requirements A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
