Summary of position
To actively support and assist the city in maintaining traffic control in the Uptown area and other areas of the city as assigned. Work independently or part of a traffic control crew. Perform a variety of duties including directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic, setting up traffic control devices, and/or other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
No experience necessary, however experience in traffic control or a customer service-related field desirable.
Training:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). Additional specialized training may be provided.
License or Certificate:
Possession of an appropriate Flaggers Certification acquired within two months of hire. Possession of a valid Arizona Driver’s License within two months of hire.
Working Conditions
Environmental Conditions: Exposure to traffic noise, blowing dust, vehicle fumes, extreme temperatures, and inclement weather.
Physical Conditions: Ability to perform moderate physical work and lift and carry up 25 pounds regularly; ability to occasionally lift 50 pounds; work in a variety of weather conditions, stand and/or walk for long periods of time in various weather conditions and different times of day/night. Maintain effective physical and audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties.
