Job Description ENGINEERING: Performs technical field inspection and office work enforcing state and local laws, ordinances, and regulatory codes governing the design, construction, and renovation of public works utilities and Water Reclamation facilities. Work involves conducting final inspections and reviewing documentation, including as-built/record drawings, closed-circuit television (CCTV) recorded on DVD of private sewer mains, engineer's certification of force main pressure tests, lift station start-up reports, easement documentation, and other applicable documentation. Exercises considerable initiative and independent judgment in the interpretation and application of codes when making technical decisions. Work is performed under general supervision according to established guidelines. Performance is reviewed through reports submitted, meetings, and results obtained for technical sufficiency and consistent application.
Minimum Qualifications: Utility Construction Inspector I: ENGINEERING: Associate's Degree with coursework in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Construction Management and two (2) years of experience in utility infrastructure inspection; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Must pass background check which includes polygraph.
Utility Construction Inspector II: ENGINEERING: Associate's Degree with coursework in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Construction Management and four (4) years of experience in utility infrastructure inspection; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience . Valid Florida Driver's License required. Must pass background check which includes polygraph . National Association of Sewer Service Companies Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (NASSCO PACP) certification preferred.
Utility Construction Inspector III : ENGINEERING: Associate's Degree with coursework in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Construction Management and six (6) years of experience in utility infrastructure inspection; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience . National Association of Sewer Service Companies Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (NASSCO PACP) certification required. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Must pass background check which includes polygraph.
Additional Qualifications for Promotion:
Promotions are not to be considered an automatic function of longevity and are subject to the review and authorization of the Supervisor. The employee’s last performance review must have resulted in an overall rating of Meets standards or better with no factor rating of less than meets.
