    Full-time position available with the Water Department, Director's Office, located at 4800 E 63rd St.
    Salary Range: $8,650 - $13,620/month
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m.

    Responsibilities

    Leadership Opportunity - Water Services Department

    The Water Services Department is seeking a knowledgeable individual to lead the Asset, Regulatory, and Water Quality Oversight Operations.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Lead & Direct - Plans, directs the development, and implementation of various subject-matter programs and will be responsible for ensuring industry standard oversight.
    • Organizational Development - Develops standards, objectives and procedures improve environmental compliance.
    • Mitigation - Advises management on how to reduce compliance risks by developing a Department-wide quality management system.
    • Audit -Performs internal/external operational audits.
    • Problem-Solving & Innovation - Assists with identifying/optimizing programs such as Pollution Prevention, Waste Management, and Energy Conservation.
    • Education & Communication - Educates staff and other stakeholders about environmental compliance issues and best practices and communicates data to internal/external stakeholders.
    • Efficiency - Optimizes existing and developing revised analytics consistent with best practices and regulatory requirements.

    This is an exciting opportunity for a results-driven leader with the ability to identify and optimize best practices to ensure and enhance efficiency and compliance within the Water Department.


    Qualifications

    REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field and 10 years of experience in private or governmental utility operations, environmental engineering/consulting, and/or regulatory agencies or an equivalent combination of experience/education deemed appropriate by the Department Director.

    Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
