    POSITION OVERVIEW :
    The Watershed Protection Department is funded through a Drainage Utility Charge. The charge is calculated using a formula based on each property’s total and percentage of impervious cover. A team consisting of IT Application Analysts and IT Geospatial Analysts administer the drainage charge by reviewing, editing, and maintaining the Geospatial database and ensuring that the data is connected to Austin Energy’s Customer Care and Billing system. The team performs review requests from customers and ensures accurate implementation of the drainage charge. The team consists entirely of IT specialists and therefore needs an IT Supervisor to manage this team. The IT Supervisor will manage a team of 6 staff members and will report directly to IT Manager.

    TRAVEL :
    If you are selected for this position and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

    Pay Range
    $37.63 - $47.98
    Hours
    40 hours per week, Monday - Friday with the ability for a 60% telework schedule per week after initial training period. Exceptions may apply subject to the business needs of the department.

    May require working outside of normal business hours, including emergency events, evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by business needs.

    • Experience with laws and regulations relating to utility charges.
    • Experience providing leadership in a professional environment.
    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.


    Provides technical leadership integrating existing or new information system technologies Coordinates and participates with other City departments, project teams, and agencies Improves operations, decreases turnaround times, streamlines work processes, and works to provide quality customer service Guides and trains staff on work procedures and operating instructions Develops and prepares management and productivity reports, studies, and analyses Assists with the preparation of operating budgets and reviews on going expenditures Assists with the development of short and long range goals and monitors performance results Prepares, reviews and approves documentation for procurement Ensures compliance with city of Austin personnel, security and department procedures Researches commercial products for possible use

    • Knowledge of budget processes

    • Ability to conduct research and analyze and interpret research findings
    • Ability to compile data and prepare narrative and statistical correspondence, reports, and presentations
    • Ability to assign and direct the work activities of assigned personnel
    • Ability to understand complex program structure, strong analysis and problem solving skills
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

    City Government
