The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Under general direction, incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups. This is a supervisory level for Computer Operations and the journey level for Information Security positions.
We are seeking an IT Professional 3 to oversee the Business Process Analyst Unit at the Nevada Department of Transportation in Carson City. This position will lead and supervise a team of Business Process Analysts while optimizing business processes and driving continuous improvement initiatives. A major responsibility includes leading and facilitating Kaizen events to identify inefficiencies and improve workflows within the organization. This involves overseeing process mapping, gap analysis, and recommending process optimizations to enhance operational efficiency. The individual works closely with cross-functional teams to pinpoint areas for improvement and ensure the successful implementation of process changes. As a Scrum Product Owner, the role entails managing business process improvement initiatives, maintaining the product backlog, and ensuring alignment with business priorities. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes Some positions require an applicant to undergo a background investigation prior to appointment. These positions will be identified at the time of recruitment. Applicants for positions in this series may have a combination of complementary education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that qualify for the class level and specialty being recruited. Special Requirements Some positions require specialized certification that will be identified at the time of recruitment. Some positions require statewide travel. Show moreThe presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.
European explorers traveled through Nevada in the early 19th century, but it was not until 1851 that the first settlements were established. An Act of Congress created the Territory of Nevada on March 2, 1861. James W. Nye of New York was appointed Nevada's first Territorial Governor by President Abraham Lincoln later that year. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.
Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
The Nevada Legislature has honored the State's natural resources and cultural heritage with a variety of State designations described below.
