Quality Control of most facets of Tax Administration’s work to list and value real estate parcels. Responsibilities will include reviewing residential and commercial new construction listing and value, Present Use Value (PUV), exemptions and exclusions, customer inquiries and data correction requests and other tasks as assigned. Quality Assurance on sales review and research, residential and commercial splits and combinations and property data accuracy.

Essential functions include: - Visit properties to perform field audits on previously collected property characteristics and measurements and document findings
- Assist management with reviewing billing adjustments or releases performed by appraisers and real estate support staff as a result of corrected property information
- Review Present Use Value (PUV) applications, exemption applications and exclusion applications
- Aid management with review of property change reports, including field checks when necessary
- Provide assistance to management on the quality assurance of newly mapped splits/combinations received by our office from Geographical Information Services
- Perform field checks per customer service request on an as needed basis
- Provides technical guidance and leadership to the staff in the absence of Appraisal/Collection Manager
About Our TeamThe Department of Tax Administration serves the citizens of Wake County by appraising, assessing and listing all real estate and personal property within the county, its fifteen municipalities and related service districts. The Department is responsible for the collection of all current and delinquent taxes on such property excluding registered motor vehicles. Consistently leading the state in property tax collection, Department of Tax Administration staff have been recognized over the years for leadership and computer system innovation. The Department also oversees the billing and collection of local gross receipts taxes including: Prepared Food & Beverage Tax, Hotel/Motel Occupancy Tax, Heavy Equipment Gross Receipts Tax, Rental Vehicle Tax as well as Special Assessments and various licensing. It is the goal of Wake County Department of Tax Administration to maintain the highest possible level of customer satisfaction while delivering quality work including accurate valuations along with the listing of all taxable and exempt property within the jurisdiction. To accomplish its goal, the Department works as efficiently as possible to increase productivity and control costs.
The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field
- Four years of experience in real or commercial property appraisal
- North Carolina Department of Revenue - Real Property Appraiser I within one year of employment
- Valid drivers license and "safe" driving record
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted
