ABOUT THE POSITIONThe Clark County Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Project Specialist position. The ideal candidate is responsible for analyzing data trends and metrics across the Clark County Juvenile Justice Services detention center, field probation, and youth camp programs. The role involves compiling and maintaining comprehensive statistical reports using the department's case management system and preparing detailed year-end statistics for performance evaluations and strategic planning. This position will respond to data requests from internal stakeholders, government agencies, and external organizations, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of information. Additional duties include preparing and presenting reports, charts, and presentations to support decision-making and policy development, collaborating with program managers to enhance data collection and reporting practices, identifying and resolving data quality issues, and monitoring key performance indicators to provide actionable insights for improving agency outcomes.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation and Experience: Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field and two (2) years of professional level experience in systems analysis, business applications design and process improvement research. Experience in a field related to the work may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES- Provides assistance to project management in the design, development, modification and implementation of a major departmental systems application.
- Works closely with information technology staff and consultants; provides information regarding departmental systems and requirements to meet all processing needs.
- Collectively works with departmental staff and external staff to design and develop new case management automation functionality.
- Conducts various research; gathers and analyzes information; conducts studies; simulates hardware and software problems; tests and evaluates alternative solutions; makes appropriate recommendations; develops processing steps; assists in the development of test data; designs input and output forms and documents; assists in the design of screens.
- Writes program documentation, procedures and instructions; assists department staff in the implementation of new and/or modified programs.
- Troubleshoots software problems as needed.
- Confers with other department staff regarding assigned functional program areas.
- Makes presentations to staff and other departments and/or organizations on systems design and functionality.
- Conducts design sessions and training workshops for staff and various external resources.
- Coordinates and maintains time lines for the development of new management systems.
- Assists in developing goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the department pertaining to functionality and modeling; assists in preparation of design approach documentation, screen specifications; testing; preparation of Help Files; and design of training programs.
- Makes recommendations regarding new design, management reports and business practices to achieve alternatives.
- Serves as liaison between the project and other County departments, as well as external agencies.
- Prepares a variety of technical, statistical and narrative reports, correspondence and other documentation.
- Maintains accurate records and files related to the new design and development area of assignment.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
- Uses a variety of standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work; utilizes a variety of software applications to create documents, maintain various spreadsheets, prepare a variety of materials for presentations, conduct research, and other related job functions.
