    The Position

    Auditors conduct audits on accounts, records, activities, operations and/or internal controls of individuals, business organizations, State agencies or other government jurisdictions subject to State taxation or regulation to ensure compliance with State and federal rules and regulations and legal requirements and/or proper safeguarding of agency funds.

    Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.

    This Auditor 1 (underfill Auditor 2) will be based in the Carson City Motor Carrier office. The Motor Carrier Division oversees the administration and regulation of motor carriers registered through the International Registration Plan (IRP), the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA), or Intrastate authority, as well as the Motor Fuel/Special Fuel Industries. The division is responsible for providing customer service and education, ensuring the equitable administration of Nevada's laws to promote compliance, and overseeing the timely collection and distribution of revenue to Nevada's Highway Fund, Counties, and Municipalities. This position's responsibilities include but are not limited to: Conducting field and desk audits on accounts, records, activities, and operations, as required under the IRP, IFTA, and Dyed/Exempt Fuel, Motor Fuels, and Special Fuel State Statutes. Assist in meeting audit goals to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Under the authority of NRS 239B.010.1(b), the DMV utilizes NRS 205.4605 - 205.810, NRS 293.504, NRS 293.5045, 6 CFR 37.45, 49 CFR 1572.103, and 49 CFR 384.228 as criteria to obtain a FBI fingerprint clearance check on current and prospective employees.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of professional or technical level auditing or accounting experience involving analyzing financial information and making recommendations based upon that analysis; OR two years of experience as an Accountant Technician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. This position requires a State of Nevada/FBI background check, at the cost of the applicant. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
