This position is with the East Construction Crew. Base office is located at the Eastern Regional Office, 2901 Highway 61, Festus, Missouri. Shift is Monday through Thursday (four 10-hour days per week), 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch break. Work assignments are located over a large geographic area of Missouri that will require travel and overnight stays during the work week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights. While the position is located at the Eastern Regional Office, the worker will travel around the region weekly and assist job sites as needed; therefore, consideration will be given to developing a schedule that allows the position to work from a facility in the Eastern Region.
- Complete skilled work assignments in multiple building trades: painting, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, roofing, drywall, heating and cooling and all phases of concrete work
- Perform material estimating and make material purchases, as needed
- Perform manual work requiring heavy lifting, reaching and bending, and also be able to climb and work at heights, such as roofs
- Operate various equipment such as a loader or skid steer
This position may be required to obtain and maintain appropriate commercial operator’s license, water/wastewater certifications, and/or other required licenses/certification. If required and if you do not currently possess this license/certification, you will be given six months to obtain necessary license/certification.

- Building and Construction : Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools to construct objects, structures, and buildings.
- Learning : Uses efficient learning techniques to acquire and apply new knowledge and skills; uses training, feedback, or other opportunities for self-learning and development.
- Mechanical : Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance.
- Plumbing and Pipefitting : Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to install, maintain, or repair pipelines, pipe systems, and fixtures, including water, air, steam, gas, chemicals, or sewage.
- Problem Solving : Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
Equivalent to those typically gained by:
- Four to six years of on-the-job training in a variety of trade areas including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair. (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience)
- Ability to understand and complete assignments received orally or by written orders from sketches, penciled layouts, or blueprints
- Ability to operate a variety of hand/power tools
- Ability to communicate effectively and work independently
- Possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license
- Must be able to travel and stay overnight during the work week, i.e. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights
