This position will be located at 111 Fairground Road, Rolla, MO 65401. Regular work schedule Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. with occasional overnight travel for training and meetings.
As the Intermediate Accountant in the division’s Administration Program, you will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and contribute to the success of the division’s mission, most directly in geologic and dam and reservoir safety issues that impact Missouri citizen’s daily lives. You will work with a division administrative team that strives to champion each other and grow on a continuous basis. And as a supervisor you will be able to lead and motivate team members to perform at their highest level. On a daily basis you will use your skills to direct and oversee the fiscal activities of complex funding and grant opportunities administered by technical programs, while solving issues and improving processes and procedures.
- Work directly with Geological Survey Program and Dam & Reservoir Safety Program managers and administrative staff on all fiscal related activities to include grant management, allocation and expenditure monitoring and projections for both personal service, expense and equipment and program specific distribution transactions
- Provide oversight and guidance in the complete grant process, from application to close-out for both Geological Survey Program and Dam and Reservoir Safety Programs
- Supervise one position responsible for grant processing, including corrections and setup. Also includes the training and fixed asset functions completed at the division level
- Assist Administration program director, division Director’s Office or program managers on special projects with fiscal and administrative support
- Provide direct support in the implementation of the new state-wide accounting system MOVERS to ensure the division is successful in implementation and with limited impact to operations. This may include coordinating training and process or accounting distribution conversions.
To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:
- Fiscal or Financial : Possess the skills for applying varied acceptable and established accounting methods to resolve financial issues. Including the ability to interpret Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
- 2 to 4 years of relevant experience or a bachelor’s degree. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
