    The Position

    Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.

    Under general direction, incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups. This is a supervisory level for Computer Operations and the journey level for Information Security positions.

    The Department of Transportation is seeking to fill an IT Professional 3 located in Carson City. This position will be responsible for the design, development, installation, monitoring, maintenance, and enhancement of the Microsoft 365 applications. The IT Professional 3 will be responsible for configuring, deploying, and maintaining various Microsoft 365 applications and tools by ensuring seamless system functionality, and providing technical support. The incumbent will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance workflows, drive user adoption, and ensure the effective use of Microsoft 365 solutions across the organization. Position responsibilities include configuring, deploying, and maintaining Microsoft 365 applications and tools, ensuring they meet organizational needs; providing technical assistance and troubleshooting support to users, resolving issues to ensure seamless system functionality; monitor system performance, conduct regular audits, and propose system enhancements to boost efficiency and optimize user experience; develop comprehensive documentation to educate staff on new tools, features, and updates. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes Some positions require an applicant to undergo a background investigation prior to appointment. These positions will be identified at the time of recruitment. Special Requirements Some positions require specialized certification that will be identified at the time of recruitment. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
