    Duties Description

    The incumbent will work in Park Operations under the direction of the Environmental Educator 1, SG-14 and Environmental Educator 2, SG-18 in the Environmental Education & Interpretation/Recreation Department. The incumbent will perform the following duties:

    • Assisting in the development and implementation of environmental education courses and programs focused on various flora, fauna and historic features of the area.
    • Supporting the facilitation of recreational programs.
    • Creating informational displays and educational materials.
    • Assisting with planning special events and recreational activities.
    • Collaborating with other park staff as needed, including providing support at other regional facilities.

    Minimum Qualifications

    There are no minimum qualifications per Civil Service.

    OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
    • Must be available to work a variable schedule that includes weekends, holidays and/or evening shifts as needed. Normal work shift will be 8:00 am to 4:30 pm but will include evenings as needed. Normal work schedule will be weekdays but will include weekends and holidays as needed.
    • Must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor and work in variable weather conditions.

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
    • Background in natural sciences, environmental studies, conservation, recreation or education.
