Why you’ll love this position: Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) provides free virtual and face-to-face classroom instruction to eligible Missouri citizens in Reading, Language, Mathematics, English Language Competency, Workplace Literacy, Digital Literacy, Civics, and Citizenship. Certified instructors teach all classes. Adult students receive preparation for Missouri’s High School Equivalency exam (HiSET®) integrated with career specific workforce training. English learners become literate in the English language while learning the responsibilities of citizenship and workforce preparation.
- Knowledge and/or experience with one or more of the following areas: Adult Education, Federal Uniform Grant Guidance, Grant and Contract Management, Testing and Assessment, Performance Data Management and Reporting
- Work in coordination with the AEL Coordinator to oversee the monitoring of local AEL service providers, including fiscal oversight, teacher certification/professional development, data quality, policy compliance, curriculum review, and partnerships.
- Coordinate and execute the logistics of on-site program monitoring for Department of Elementary and Secondary Education AEL staff and local program representatives.
- Provide effective communication to local AEL programs on the planning and implementation of AEL activities and services, offering technical assistance and guidance to support their efforts.
- Assist the AEL Coordinator in ensuring AEL meets all Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 (WIOA) requirements.
- Work in coordination with the AEL Coordinator to prepare the federally required Annual Performance Report.
- Assist in supervising and training section staff on specific job duties, specifically professional development and teacher certification.
- Assist in preparing Bid Specifications for various contracts such as Professional Development trainers and hotel bids for conferences.
- Responsible for preparing for, conducting, and writing reports for on-site reviews, risk assessments, and desk reviews of AEL Local Programs.
- Supervise specialty areas as assigned by the AEL Coordinator (e.g., monitoring of local programs and professional development for local AEL teachers).
- Serve on WIOA partnership committees and complete assignments related to that work.
- Assist AEL Coordinator in implementing federal/state policies and procedures relating to the operation of the AEL program.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and the Literacy, Adult & Community Education System (LACES) to communicate and create reports as needed by local AEL programs or AEL staff.
- Perform other related work as assigned.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with local school officials, community colleges, local community-based organizations, civic leaders, business industry, and social services groups.
- Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in education, administration, or a closely related field.
OR - Five or more years of successful professional work experience in the field of grant monitoring, performance reporting, administration, education, or training.
