Position DescriptionThe
Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator's Office invites applications for the position of
Property and Evidence Technician I. Incumbents are responsible for intake and booking of evidence, tracking chain of custody, collecting abandoned or seized property, releasing property and evidence materials in accordance with legal regulations, and coordinating the disposal of hazardous materials.
APPLICANTS MUST BE WILLING TO WORK SHIFTS AS ASSIGNED INCLUDING NIGHTS, WEEKENDS, AND HOLIDAYS.
As a condition of employment, candidates must undergo and pass a polygraph or Computer Voice Stress Analysis examination and a thorough background investigation (background materials for failed candidates are retained for three years). Background investigations include employment/credit histories, arrest/criminal records, drug/alcohol use, and personal conduct. Minimum Qualifications Applicants must qualify under one (1) of the options listed below: OPTION 1 :
Education : Completion of thirty (30) semester units of coursework that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system.
Experience : One (1) year of full-time, paid experience performing receipt, storage, release, inventory, and recordkeeping of stored material.
OPTION 2 :
Experience : One (1) year as a Crime Scene Specialist with the County of Fresno.
OPTION 3 :
Experience : Two (2) years as an Identification Technician with the County of Fresno.
In addition to the options listed above, the following is also required: License : Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent.
Note : Incumbents must obtain and maintain Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ) clearance as a condition of employment.

SELECTION PROCESS: Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.
Please Note: - The eligible list for this recruitment may be extended up to 12 months, and may be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions.
- Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules.
