    Overview

    The Larimer County Community Development Department is seeking a student to join our team as a Planning Intern for the summer!

    The intern will work with a team of Planners, and assist with research, data analysis, and project development for urban planning , land use, and community development. The Intern will be exposed to a wild variety of planning duties and learn about the planning profession from a county government perspective.

    This is a temporary position, expected to last 3 months. The typical schedule for this position is 8am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday, with some flexibility on start and end times.

    What you'll be doing:
    • Conducting research and collecting data on zoning, land use, and environmental issues
    • Consolidating and analyzing data
    • Analyzing demographic, economic, and geographic data to support planning initiatives
    • Supporting project managers with long-range planning projects and development review

    What we're looking for:
    • Proficiency in routine software and business applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools, virtual meeting platforms, and databases
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
    • General knowledge of planning principles and practices
    • Skill in collecting and analyzing data, and developing routine plans and reports
    • Commitment to providing professional and courteous customer service to clients and the public
    • Strong research skills and familiarity with common research techniques

    Qualifications

    • Must be 18 years of age
    • Must be a current college student and have completed at least the sophomore year of study in Urban Planning or a related field required.
    • Three months of experience using GIS preferred.
    • Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
