    The Position

    Maintenance Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, facilities and equipment.

    Under general supervision, incumbents perform the full range of duties described in the series concept, and in addition, function as a leadworker to a regularly assigned crew. Leadwork responsibilities include providing training and technical assistance, work assignment and work review, and providing input to performance evaluations. In a correctional setting, incumbents function as a leadworker for an inmate crew on a regular basis and document inmate performance through completion of periodic performance reports. Incumbents are also responsible for implementing security procedures which include securing the work area from unauthorized inmates and accountability for assigned inmates, staff, tools, and equipment.

    This position is for a Maintenance Repair Specialist within the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Museums & History Division, located in the Las Vegas. The incumbent will be responsible for performing plumbing work to maintain, repair, and modify plumbing systems and fixtures. Other duties will include carpentry work to construct, maintain, repair, and modify facilities, fixtures, furniture and woodwork and perform basic electrical work, including installing new parts in defective equipment, replacing light bulbs, ballasts and transformers, removing and installing electrical fixtures. This position will also be responsible for basic painting work including interior work such as taping, texturing and patching sheetrock and masonry surfaces. Equipment mechanical work will be required to be maintain such as repair work, tuning and adjusting equipment and/or vehicles, preventive maintenance, replacing worn or damage parts. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Three years of experience performing semi-skilled work in the relevant building and/or mechanical trades; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements Some positions require a valid Class A, B, or C driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Some positions are subject to call-back after work hours and call-out on weekends and holidays. These positions will be identified at the time of recruitment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
