    Minimum Qualifications

    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the job, plus two (2) years of experience in a technical training environment.
    • Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.


    Licenses or Certifications:

    Licensing for specific disciplines may be required.
    Notes to Applicants

    The Training Specialist will Manage TCOLE -related communications, maintain sworn/cadet records, and ensure compliance with licensing and training requirements. The employee will be responsible for creating and maintaining files, processing licensing, coordinating pre-academy documentation, and assisting with mandated reporting for Sworn/Civilian personnel. The role also involves supporting promotional exam preparations.

    TCOLE TRAINING SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES :
    •Responsible for TCOLE email (Follow-up/answer general TCOLE /licensing-related questions from all Academy emails)
    •Create cadet digital files.
    •Enter C1’s ( PID Assignment) into TCLEDDS for New Cadets
    •Run CCHs before Day One of the Academy
    •Prepare folders for Cadets for Day One of the Academy
    •Gather and download Cadet paperwork from ICIMS
    •Upload Cadet documents to ICIMS
    •Submit Personal Information Change requests to TCOLE for Cadets or Sworn (such as Name/Address updates)
    •Gather information for the Promotional Exams to send off to Civil Service.
    •Process Sworn F7 (education)
    •TCOLE SecureShare Request
    •Cadet Roster Updates (as cadets leave, rosters are updated)
    •Sworn/Civilian unit and cycle reporting on mandated training
    •Run Master Peace Officer reports & submit MPO stipends to HR/Payroll

    CBI :

    Must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems ( CJIS ) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and Family Violence Convictions.     Secondary Employment:

    All Austin Police employees are prohibited from accepting or engaging in any secondary employment that might conflict or interfere with an employee’s duty and responsibility to the Department.

    Travel:

    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

    Surveys various training techniques, materials, and commercial offerings to select the most appropriate process for the delivery of training. Delivers targeted, audience-appropriate instructor-led training sessions. Coordinates student and facility schedules for delivery of training, and maintains and prepares appropriate records of participation. Develops written training materials, visual aids, and reference materials, including course curriculums. Performs preproduction, production, and postproduction work on computer- and video- training materials that use computer and streaming audio-visual technologies for on-demand use. Develops and administers assessments of staff skills for use in developing training strategies and curriculum, and effectiveness of delivery. Conducts research or surveys to determine the effectiveness of training provided.

    City Government
