  • Job Description

The City of Ojai is seeking a visionary, community-connected Recreation Manager to lead a vibrant department that enriches the lives of residents through accessible, high-quality programs, services and events.

In this key leadership role, you will oversee a diverse and impactful portfolio—including recreation programming, community partnerships, parks maintenance and facility operations, special event management and commercial concert coordination at Libbey Bowl. You’ll play a central role in enhancing quality of life and fostering community connection in Ojai. Reporting directly to the City Manager, the Recreation Manager will guide departmental strategy, supervise a dedicated team, manage the department’s budget and drive cross-departmental coordination efforts.

This hands-on, service-driven role is ideal for a relationship-oriented leader who thrives in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment. Whether supporting a citywide event, cultivating partnerships with local organizations or advancing capital improvements, the Recreation Manager will help shape Ojai’s distinctive, active and engaged community spirit.

This position also serves as the staff liaison to the Parks and Recreation Commission and advisor to the City Council—ensuring the commission is well-supported and effective in its advisory role. The Recreation Manager also participates in citywide emergency response and preparedness initiatives.

If you’re passionate about community building and bring a strong background in recreation services, public engagement, leadership and collaborative problem-solving, we invite you to bring your expertise to a close-knit, values-driven community nestled in the scenic Ojai Valley.
