DescriptionABOUT THE POSITIONThe City is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a Project Manager. This position is responsible for managing and coordinating the planning, design, bidding, and implementation of capital improvement and general projects across City departments. The role involves providing project management support, ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery, and overseeing the work of vendors, consultants, and contractors. The ideal candidate will perform complex administrative and analytical work related to the development and administration of citywide programs and policies. This position reports to the CIP Manager and requires a high degree of independent judgment and initiative. This individual will be delivering projects critical to the City's core functionality, including building system replacements, playground renovations, and infrastructure upgrades.

- Coordinate planning, design and implementation of assigned capital or general projects.
- Develop, recommend, and maintain accurate and current project budgets.
- Participate in, or manage the selection, hiring, and development of agreements with consulting firms. Act as the City representative in directing consultants.
- Plan, prepare, and communicate schedules and progress records of projects’ activities and expenditures, and assist others in establishing project schedules and milestones.
- Oversee the public bid process, solicit and review bids and recommend contract awards.
- Other related duties as required.
Minimum QualificationsEXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Any combination equivalent to experience, education and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities could be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
EXPERIENCE
- Five years of managerial supervision experience related to capital project management, facilities management, construction and supervision
EDUCATION
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in planning, public or business administration, real estate development, architecture, landscape architecture, civil engineering, construction management, or related field
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
- Possession of or ability to obtain, prior to employment, a Class C California Driver License and a satisfactory driving record
- A certification or license in one or more of the following: Project Management (PMP), Engineering (PE), Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, or Architecture is preferred.
Supplemental InformationPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONSMust possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer, to inspect City development and construction sites, to operate a motor vehicle, and to visit various City and meeting sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing and walking between work areas and walking on uneven terrain and climbing to reach certain access points may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
