    A Senior Architect plans, organizes and directs the daily operation of for the Zoning Review Section. Works closely with Mayor’s office, Council offices, and other departments to ensure the success in early zoning review for housing projects. Takes a proactive and leadership role in identifying problems and solutions for issues related to the program.

    Develops and manages processes to assist the building permit applicants at various stages of the entitlement and permitting process. Streamlining zoning review at the beginning of the development review process provides better direction and relevant information to applicants up front. Manages early zoning review of housing projects to ensures a smooth entitlement path and avoids “late hits” from occurring on these critical projects that are advancing the City’s housing goals.

    Performs administrative and management functions for the LADBS Zoning Review Section which includes: coordination of the section's activities with other divisions in the Permit and Engineering Bureau; establishing goals and timetables; supervision of a team of architectural staff engaged zoning review; responsible for responding to difficult problems from the contractors, engineers, and the general public; and attend to personnel and staffing matters.

    Prepares narrative and statistical reports to Department management regarding the service levels provided by the Zoning Review Section; prepares correspondence regarding Department policies, procedures and code enforcement.

    Makes oral presentations to community groups and represents the Department at various other public meetings, as needed.
