GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
Under the direction of the Davis Mountains State Park-Indian Lodge Assistant Superintendent this position performs highly advanced (senior-level) supervisory maintenance and construction work. Responsible for leadership of maintenance duties at the Davis Mountains State Park -Indian Lodge Complex. Supervises maintenance staff and volunteers by providing guidance, leadership and training. Submits work plans, schedules workload and assists in all phases of maintenance, repair, and operation of facilities, equipment and grounds. Plans cyclical and preventive maintenance schedules. Prepares project cost estimates, coordinates ordering of supplies and materials and makes purchases in compliance with state purchasing rules. Works with Site Safety Officers to administer TPWD safety program. Operates all types of equipment including riding mowers, tractors, power tools and other gasoline operated equipment. Ensures regulatory compliance in site water utility operations to include completion of forms and reports required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and TPWD. Assists with planning and implementation of natural and cultural resource management tasks and preservation of historic facilities. Responds to abnormal or emergency situations such as water leaks, power outage and visitor injuries. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education :
Graduation from High School or GED.
Experience :
Five years general building trade experience, such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, welding, grounds, motor vehicle, equipment and utility maintenance and repair experience.
Three years experience as a supervisor or team leader, which may include oversight of paid staff, volunteers, or alternative workforces.
NOTE : Experience may have occurred concurrently.
Licensure :
Must possess a valid State driver's license.
NOTE : Retention of position is contingent upon obtaining and maintain required license.
Must possess or be able to obtain, within 6 months of employment, a class "D" Water Operator license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
NOTE : Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license and compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's (TCEQ) Criminal Conviction Guidelines.

WORKING CONDITIONS :
Required to work in a public park-hotel complex with overnight and day use.
