    Gift Shop Sales Representative
    Carson City, Nevada
    Salary up to $83,666 (employee/employer paid retirement plan)

    The Legislative Counsel Bureau (LCB) is seeking a diverse pool of qualified applicants for the
    position of Gift Shop Sales Representative within the Administrative Division. The LCB is a
    nonpartisan, legislative service agency that provides professional, technical and administrative
    support to the Nevada Legislature, which convenes biennially in odd-numbered years for 120-
    day sessions and for rare special sessions during the interim periods. The Administrative
    Division provides administrative support to legislators, legislative staff and LCB staff. In
    addition, the Legislative Gift Shop features Made in Nevada merchandise, along with other
    souvenirs and gifts specific to the Nevada Legislature, Nevada government and the state of
    Nevada. This is a full-time position located in Carson City, Nevada.

    Position Description: Under the general supervision of the Gift Shop Administrator, the Gift
    Shop Sales Representative will provide exceptional customer service while promoting and
    selling a diverse range of products in the Gift Shop. Responsibilities of the Gift Shop Sales
    Representative may include, without limitation:
    • Providing exceptional customer service by engaging with guests in a friendly,
    professional, and welcoming manner to create a positive and memorable shopping
    experience;
    • Collaborating with team members to support Gift Shop objectives and contribute to a
    respectful, team-oriented work environment;
    • Accurately and efficiently processing sales transactions, including handling of cash,
    credit/debit cards, and gift certificates;
    • Monitoring merchandise levels, restocking displays, and participating in regular
    inventory checks to ensure product availability and presentation;
    • Maintaining in-depth knowledge of merchandise and assisting customers with product
    information to support informed purchasing decisions; and
    • Performing other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications: The Gift Shop Sales Representative will be selected with special
    preference given to the candidate's training, experience and aptitude in the retail field. The
    qualified candidate must possess: (1) a high school diploma/GED; (2) at least 2 years of
    experience in retail; or (3) an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to outstanding customer service;
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills; 2
    • The ability to identify issues, assess needs, and implement effective solutions;
    • Proficiency in inventory management and merchandising to maximize retail space and
    maintain appropriate stock levels;
    • A professional demeanor, appearance, and standard of conduct;
    • The physical ability to remain active on the sales floor and in the stockroom for extended
    periods while engaging with customers, processing transactions, and restocking
    merchandise;
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to operate a point-of-sale (POS) system;
    and
    • The ability to lift and move medium to large items weighing up to 30 pounds, employing
    proper safety techniques.

    Salary: The annual salary for this position is based upon a Grade 32, which has a salary range
    of $56,689 to $83,666 for the employee/employer paid retirement option. An employer paid
    contribution plan is also available with a reduced salary in lieu of an employee contribution.
    Actual starting salary will be based on experience.

    compensation program.

    WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in a typical office environment. Significant
    overtime is required during legislative sessions and certain other periods as necessary to meet
    the demands of the Legislature. When overtime is worked, the Gift Shop Sales Representative
    may earn compensatory time that can be taken at a later date or be paid for the overtime,
    consistent with the LCB Rules and Policies and subject to budgetary limits.
