    Duties Description

    The Program Aide will assist the Environmental Education and Interpretation Section in the Division of Environmental Stewardship and Planning with administrative and outreach duties. The applicant will work with the Parks Chief Environmental Educator. They must be able to work as a member of a team and be comfortable working in the office and from home. The applicant must have good organizational skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Review and edit interpretive signage
    • Create interpretive signage for sites, keeping with Parks Interpretive Signage Guidelines
    • Prepare quarterly newsletter for the statewide Environmental Education (EE) Team
    • Organize monthly education meetings including confirming guest speakers and follow up notes
    • Assist in planning and coordination of and tracking of annual trainings for the EE Team
    • Assist in tracking the budget information for the EE Team
    • Assist in purchasing of materials for EE Team
    • Work on Parks Explorer Booklet in conjunction with Public Affairs
    • Represent EE Team on Parks Blog Team meetings
    • Work on EE updates for the new Parks website
    • Assist EE strategic planning team as needed
    • Assist with scheduling and logistics for meetings, travel, and conferences

    Minimum Qualifications

    No minimum qualification per Civil Service.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    · Relevant experience in an office setting preferably in an administrative role
    · Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and comfortable working independently
    · Experience in editing interpretation materials
    · Proficient computer skills including with Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
    · Strong attention to detail
    · Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    Additional Comments

    OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
    • Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently as well as with others.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively with other staff and park patrons in a responsible and courteous manner.
