    The Position

    Under immediate supervision, incumbents perform a variety of duties at the sub-journey level while receiving training for advancement to an entry-level professional class related to fiscal or business management functions in State government.

    Incumbents continue to receive training in performing the duties relevant to the class they are underfilling. This is the continuing trainee level in the series and incumbents may progress to the next level in this series by meeting the minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and with the recommendation of the appointing authority.

    The Division of Human Resource Management, Central Payroll section is recruiting for a Fiscal/Business Professional Trainee 2 to underfill the position of Accountant Technician 1. This position will be located in Carson City. The incumbent will perform technical account maintenance duties for agencies with complex accounting functions and systems. Contributing factors to the complexity of the work include Federal tax reporting requirements, Month-end and quarterly deadlines, Account reconciliation and cost allocation planning, Compliance with guidelines beyond those outlined in the State Administrative Manual, Enterprise-level accounting operations, Complex fund accounting, External financial reporting requirements. Additional responsibilities include conducting weekly reviews of the Payroll Trust Fund, Researching and analyzing account variances, preparing reclassification and adjusting journal entries as appropriate, assisting with payroll accounting inquiries and issues. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.     In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of technical and/or paraprofessional experience in the field in which the applicant is to be trained; OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, or closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes Individuals employed in this series will be required to meet the Special Requirements and understand the Informational Notes of the class series they are to be trained in. These will be identified at the time of recruitment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
