    CLASSIFICATION TITLE: Student Services Professional IA

    UNION CODE: R04

    TEMPORARY END DATE: This position is temporary and ends on or before June 30, 2026. Any continuation beyond June 30, 2026 is contingent upon satisfactory performance and available funding.

    FT/PT: Full-time

    PAY PLAN: 12-month

    WORKPLACE TYPE: On-site (work in-person at business location)

    ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,150 per month.

    CSU CLASSIFICATION SALARY RANGE: $4,150 - $5,076

    PAY BASIS: Monthly

    POSITION PURPOSE: The Student Services Professional IA (SSP IA), under direct supervision of the Director of Student Outreach, Access & Support, performs outreach and recruitment support activities of a basic and structured nature, provides pre-admission support following well established policies and procedures, and supports university outreach technology. The SSP IA supports enrollment goals and assists with implementing plans of action and activities related to outreach and recruitment of prospective first-time freshman and transfer students. To perform these duties, the incumbent interacts with a variety of constituents and stakeholders and will collaborate with the Office of Admissions to provide information and support to prospective students.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Outreach & Recruitment Support
    • Support university outreach and recruitment efforts by assisting with making standardized presentations at local high schools, community colleges, college fairs, career days, college nights, and community events to share basic information about the university and admissions process.
    • Provide prospective students and families with accurate and current information about undergraduate enrollment, adhering closely to established policies and procedures.
    • Maintain strong relationships with departments and divisions on campus, school leaders, community organizations and student organizations off campus to provide college information and contribute to the increase of access and enrollment on campus.
    • Assist prospective students in the application process by providing step-by-step support using predefined resources and checklists.

    Pre-Admission Support
    • Request additional information and/or documentation from applicants, including academic transcripts to support application for admission.
    • Assist with preliminary evaluation of admissions materials (including A-G requirements and transfer coursework) using clear criteria that are required to determine eligibility for admission.
    • Create various standard reports as directed to track applicant progress.

    University Outreach Technology Support
    • Send pre-written or template-based communications through RunnerConnect, AskRowdy or ComGen in Peoplesoft for the University Outreach department as needed to engage and recruit prospective students.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES (SKA’s) -
    • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
    • Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior; research and observation techniques for the purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information; and the techniques and methods of interviewing.
    • Ability to gather and analyze data; reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
    • Ability participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences and interviews.
    • Ability to clearly express ideas and recommendations and write clear and concise reports.
    • Demonstrated customer service experience requiring a very high level of diplomacy and professionalism.
    • Ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.
    • Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.
    • Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner.
    • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
    • Ability to interpret, communicate and apply policies and procedures.
    • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.
    • Excellent computer skills and competence with a variety of computer applications including word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, on-line systems, Internet as well as online calendaring and email.
    • Working knowledge of or ability to quickly learn University infrastructure.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Demonstrated skills in an institutional/educational environment utilizing a customer-oriented and service-centered attitude.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: SEDENTARY WORK - involves mainly sitting; minimal walking and standing; lifting light weight objects limited to 15 pounds.

    SPECIAL CONDITIONS -

    SCREENING: Only those applicants possessing experience most directly related to the immediate needs of the office will be invited to appear before a Qualifications Appraisal Board for the purpose of appraising training, experience, and interest in the position.

    BACKGROUND CHECK: Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

    MANDATED REPORTER: Limited: The person holding this position is considered a limited mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083, revised July 21, 2017.
