(Job #548359) Student Services Professional II, Transfer Recruitment Specialist, Salary Range: $5,083 - $7,228 monthly. Hiring Range: $5,083 - $5,337 monthly. This is a full-time, benefited, exempt, 12-month pay plan permanent position with a one-year probationary period in Department of Admissions. Position Summary: The Admissions Transfer Recruitment Specialist supports transfer students-especially from College of the Redwoods (CR) and other California community colleges-who are interested in attending Humboldt. Operating under general direction, the specialist works to increase transfer enrollment, lead CSU-initiated transfer efforts, and build strong relationships with community colleges statewide. Based at Humboldt with regular presence at CR, the role provides advising, plans outreach events, supports admissions operations, and collaborates with campus partners to ensure a smooth transfer experience and contribute to student success initiatives like GI 2025.
Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with local recruiters, faculty and staff at both CR and Cal Poly Humboldt to promote CR student transfer to Humboldt - 30% - Collaboratively build a College of the Redwoods > Humboldt transfer pipeline
- Maintain outreach and follow up with all CR students indicating interest in Cal Poly Humboldt
- Work closely with CR counselors to 1) avoid duplication of effort, and 2) understand gaps in service/knowledge base that need support
- Provide direction to CR students, faculty and staff regarding Humboldt academic offerings, admission requirements, articulation agreements, transfer requirements, tuition and fees, and financial aid
- Meet with CR students during regularly scheduled office hours on CR campus to provide resources, referrals, information and advising regarding transferring to Humboldt. And document meetings in Slate under Events
- Travel regularly to CR campus satellite sites to deliver referral and advising services, information and resources, working evenings and weekends as needed.
- Organize promotional events and informational workshops that bring Humboldt representatives (faculty, staff, and students) to CR campus
- Promote all Humboldt events (organized by others) that could bring CR students to Cal Poly Humboldt. Create and organize events designed to introduce CR students to Humboldt campus and sample the university experience.
- Identify and develop ways to build capacity at CR for promoting and facilitating transfer to Cal Poly Humboldt
Overlay service to the recruitment team for the specific purpose of increasing the volume and intentionality of students transferring to Humboldt from Community Colleges throughout the State of California. - 30% - Comprehensive understanding of California community colleges and program matching opportunities
- Annually organize and attend (with regional recruiter) CPH presentation to top feeder Community Colleges within each region
- Relationship development consisting of intentional, consistent, and documented outreach to Transfer Center Coordinators/ Directors throughout the State on quarterly basis to develop strong synergistic relationships
- Work with recruiters (and their schedules) to connect with and set visit appointments, particularly during yield season
- Under general direction, collaborate and strategize with recruiters on best locations and practices for recruiting transfer students within their markets
- Occasional travel to other areas of California for transfer practice development
Campus-based recruitment activities to include - 20% - Candidate evaluation to include FTF when needed
- Daily office duties consisting of fielding calls, meeting students and their families, and making presentations
- Provide timely, complete, and excellent service to all inquiries received
Reporting, business planning, and evaluations - 15% - Working in Slate, our CRM
- Developing and disseminating reports about the transfer pipeline
- Conducting and receiving training
- Other duties, as assigned

- Ability to speak to individuals and large groups, presenting information on admissions, financial aid, Cal Poly Humboldt, and the CSU
- Ability to quickly acquire a general knowledge of Cal Poly Humboldt and CSU/Cal Poly Humboldt enrollment requirements, policies, and procedures, as well as general knowledge about financial aid processes and procedures
- Ability to interpret and apply enrollment policies and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions and carry through actions having implications with regard to other program or service areas
- Ability to work independently and effectively, and carry-out assignments without detailed instructions • Ability to interact professionally and effectively, individually or in group settings, with prospective students and their family members, school/college counselors, and colleagues
- Ability to understand, embrace, and communicate Cal Poly Humboldt marketing messages
- Demonstrated sensitivity to cross-cultural perspectives and experiences
Minimum Qualifications: Experience: Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge.
License: Valid California Class C Driver’s License, insurable driving record, and access to a personal vehicle to perform duties of the position.
Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year of experience in a college/university setting in outreach and recruiting preferred. One (1) year of experience in the use of social media platforms for marketing purposes. First-hand knowledge of Cal Poly Humboldt’s educational experience preferred. Ability and willingness to work with diverse populations. Ability to identify and analyze organizational and operating problems and implement appropriate responses. Strong organizational skills and ability to plan, coordinate, and initiate actions necessary to implement administrative or group decisions or recommendations. Ability to meet tight deadlines and submit all required paperwork according to office deadlines, including reimbursement forms for travel. Ability to learn and use various technologies, including PeopleSoft, a relationship management system, web content system, virtual meeting platforms, and MS Office applications.
