DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This single-position journey level class responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and overseeing assigned public health emergency preparedness programs. The incumbent has responsibility for the day-to-day activities and functions of their programs, which includes all Emergency Preparedness programs, and may include other assigned health programs. Incumbents will be assigned programs based on the needs of the department.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Receives direct supervision from assigned supervisory staff. Provides direct supervision to technical and administrative support staff, as assigned.

- Plans, develops, organizes, implements, and coordinates one or more assigned public health programs.
- Oversees and directs one or more specialized health services programs, which includes Emergency Preparedness Programs.
- Ensures program goals and objectives are met.
- Oversees needs assessment activities and strategic planning.
- Develops outreach and marketing strategies, which includes the development and distribution of materials such as reports, pamphlets, exhibits, and news releases related to assigned programs.
- Assesses individual and community needs, including health education, needs related to assigned programs.
- Serves as a resource person for assigned programs.
- Plans and conducts classes, workshops, educational workshops, and other community outreach activities.
- Presents materials to groups, agencies, and individuals.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of health education components of assigned programs.

HEALTH AND INSURANCE BENEFITS - Medical, dental, hospital, vision, life and disability coverage is available to employees and their dependents. The County contributes $1,500 of the monthly premiums for the insurance plan options.
VACATION ACCRUAL may be adjusted for current city or county government employees.
VACATION - 80 hours per year during the first five years of service, 120 hours per year after five years, and additional accruals based on years of service beyond fifteen years. Pro-rated for part-time employees.
SICK LEAVE - Accrues at a rate of 96 hours per year. Pro-rated for part-time employees.
HOLIDAYS- An average of twelve paid 8-hour holidays per year. Pro-rated for part-time employees.
SALARY - Lake County has an adopted salary schedule. The salary range for most classifications is in five increments with a provision for longevity increases. Appointments are normally made at the first step of the salary range.
SOCIAL SECURITY - County employees participate in Social Security.
CALIFORNIA STATE DISABILITY INSURANCE - SDI is available to some County employees.
