    Job Summary

    This position will evaluate and update student records primarily for the purpose of determining eligibility for graduation. Serve as a resource to students, advisors, faculty and staff regarding graduation and evaluation policies and procedures. Support the implementation of University graduation and student success initiatives and provide periodic support for the assessment of appeals in relationship to graduation.

    Furthermore, the incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Evaluate and update student records as assigned, primarily to determine eligibility for graduation. Provide periodic support for the assessment of appeals in relationship to graduation and Student Success: Independently generate worklists and identify students who require evaluation based on processing cycles.
    • Research, interpret and explain relevant CSULB policies and procedures to students, faculty, staff and administrators. Support and monitor compliance with policies and procedures to promote students' successful progression to program completion. Assist in the implementation and testing of tools to guide students and advisors in monitoring and tracking timely academic progress: Advise students, CSULB academic departments, and other units of Enrollment Services on graduation policies and procedures, e.g., pertaining to Timely Graduation, Advancement to Candidacy, etc.
    • Support other evaluation units as-needed (e.g., Policy & Appeals, Transfer Credit, Beach Central) with student- and advisor-related questions and requests: Deliver student support services across multiple formats and platforms, addressing inquiries related to student records such as graduation, appeals, and transfer credit, including Beach Central.

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

    Knowledge of academic policies and graduation requirements in a university setting. Experience assessing transcripts, grading policies, and course credit systems preferred. Experience independently planning and managing daily workload to meet production goals. Experience working in an environment that requires constant change and adaptation to workload priorities. Experience applying complex unit, department, and university policies and procedures. Experience researching academic information to determine applicable rules and regulations for graduation evaluation preferred. Experience with online student information systems, preferably PeopleSoft. Experience using spreadsheet software (preferably Excel) in order to organize work and maintain worklists. Experience updating, analyzing and interpreting student data using a student information database. Experience establishing and maintaining a cooperative working relationship with students, faculty and staff through both verbal and written modes. Experience interacting and communicating with ethnically and culturally diverse communities. Treats all customers (students, faculty and staff colleagues) with dignity and respect, empathy, fairness and professionalism, consistent with the university mission, values and strategic vision. Ensures operational integrity and continuity by maintaining detailed descriptions of responsibilities, ranging from daily tasks to strategic activities and outcomes, and makes them available to supervisor. Ensures quality, usability and integrity of system data by working within approved processes and testing procedures.

    Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

    Education and Experience
    • Equivalent to one year of experience related to academic records evaluation required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

    Physical Summary

    Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

    Compensation

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

    Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $4,262 - $4,458 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,262 - $5,998 per month.

    Time Base

    1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

    Duration of Appointment

    This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
