DescriptionThe Irvine Police Department is conducting a recruitment for the position of Public Safety Supervisor I. The department seeks a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a high level of professionalism and a broad-based understanding of Public Safety support services. Your Impact- Supervises the daily activities and operations of the Property & Evidence Unit.
- Supervises a staff of 5.
- Directs and supervises the security and control of evidence and property acquired by the police department.
- Supervises coordination and attends the periodic disposal of contraband and other materials.
- May perform duties of Property & Evidence Specialist I & II.
- Oversees uniforms and equipment for department personnel.
- Supervises, trains, directs staff on issuance of uniforms and equipment.
- Procures and maintains equipment inventory.
- Works directly with uniform contractor on management of uniform portal.
- Assists with facility maintenance requests and needs for the department.

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions- Associate degree in Business Administration, Police Science, or related field with four years experience in Parking Control, Animal Services or Property & Evidence, including two years experience in a lead or supervisory capacity, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Possess, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California driver's license.

Public Safety Department is a full-service public safety agency that provides several special program areas including Emergency Management, Crime Prevention, DARE, School Resource Officer, K-9s, Traffic Enforcement, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, General Investigation, Crime Scene Investigation, Special Investigation (vice & narcotics), and the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT). The Process The selection process will include an oral interview(s) and a background investigation prior to appointment. This recruitment may establish an eligibility list to fill future positions in similar and/or lower classifications within the organization.
