Examples of DutiesIn this position you will:- Serve in a leadership capacity to develop, implement, and evaluate library collections, services, and programs for the Adult Services Department.
- Promote the use of library resources through instructional tours, special activities or programs, and community contacts.
- Write grants to secure funding and resources to support the library's mission, programs, and services.
- Supervise staff and act as Person in Charge during absence of library leadership.
- Collaborate with other Town and Library departments.
- Oversee library subscriptions and maintain online calendars.
- Develop and update procedure manuals.
- Train staff on library operations and services.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
- Prepare activity reports and compile data, statistics, and inventory records
- Select, recommend, and purchase library materials; communicate and coordinate purchase with vendors; identify and remove materials to be withdrawn in assigned area.
- Stay current with emerging technologies to enhance library services .
Typical QualificationNeeds to have/ be:- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Library Science or closely related field and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a public library.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background.
- Working knowledge of principles and techniques of selecting and managing a library collection.
- Skill in promoting a culture of teamwork and communication by working in collaboration and treating coworkers with respect and dignity and maintaining an open mind to diverse voices and ideas.
Compensation: The Town's complete compensation package includes salary, benefits, and a high-performance culture. The Town package includes a health, dental and vision insurance plan, participation in the state retirement system, optional 457 deferred compensation with town match up to 6%, vacation, holidays, and additional comprehensive benefits.
The salary range is $66,456 to $93,038.
